On this autumnal Friday we’re excited to bring you some reflections and shopping inspiration from our core contributor and local Magic 98 radio host, Ginger Martin! As an avid hiker and a lover of cozy fall fashions, here’s what she’s picked from Pendleton to help her have a comfortable and fashionable fall vacation. You can also get to know Ginger a little better here and listen to her Monday-Friday from noon-3pm on Magic 98.
It’s finally here. The time of year I look forward to most: Autumn. I love everything about this season such as the cooler temperatures, the colors of pumpkins and hay bales and changing leaves. I love the wistful feeling I get when I see geese flying south. And most of all I love being out in nature to appreciate it all. So, I’m taking a week-long vacation to Door County in the middle of October right when the leaves will be at their peak. I plan on visiting all five state parks while I’m there so I’ll be packing a lot of hiking gear like my trusty old hiking boots and backpack and a few new items from Pendleton.
Pendleton is a company that has been outfitting wanderlusts like me since 1863. I have built my hiking wardrobe on Pendleton pieces that have lasted me for decades so I know every time I stop in I’m going to find that investment piece that will see many state and national parks right along with me for years to come.
You can’t go hiking in the fall without a good flannel shirt and this year I found the perfect one that just screams “Ginger Martin”. It’s black, brown and heather grey plaid with just enough room to let me bend and stretch when going up a steep rocky bluff. I’ve found that you can’t take a four hour hike without breaking a sweat no matter how chilly the weather, so for underneath my flannel shirt I have one of Pendleton’s new Marino wool active wear long sleeve t-shirts. It actually wicks moisture away from my body to keep me dry and comfortable for as long as I want to hike. Then after a long day of hiking I’ll change into my new cozy wool sweater and hang out by the fire pit on the shores of Green Bay to watch the sunset and the stars appear.
I love taking photos to commemorate all the beautiful places I’ve been. And as a tribute to the 100th Anniversary of our National Park system Pendleton is commemorating some of America’s best with their National Park Collection. From their famous blankets and throws to mugs, pillows and towels and for your hiking partner with four legs, Pendleton has even created National Park collection dog beds, coats, collars, leashes and more. Truman is going to be one stylin’ dog when we hit the trails this month.
Being one with nature is good for the soul. Get out, take a hike, fill your lungs with fresh autumn air and appreciate everything that is right in our beautiful world.
